ABOUT MONTANA SURF FUTSAL

Futsal is a fast-paced indoor game that allows players the opportunity to improve their footwork and become more comfortable with the ball. The game demands quick reflexes, fast thinking, and good ball control. The fast pace of the game encourages creativity, quick decision-making skills, and is fun for people of all ages.

Futsal is one of the finest teachers of the beautiful game. Many professional players credit futsal as the X factor in their technical and mental development. Soccer and futsal are two slightly different sports that share many aspects, such as mastering the ball, combining, and making quick decisions. It is estimated that futsal players get 600% more touches on the ball than in a full-field outdoor match.

The indoor, close space games allow players the opportunity to score multiple times throughout a game in an exciting environment. The offside rule does not apply to the game of futsal. Futsal allows each player a lot of quality time with the ball in a fun and safe environment. The game is intended to foster creativity and fun for each player in a relaxed environment, away from coaches and the formality of a standard game scenario.

* If a team has a conflict with a game, please contact Surf Staff at least a week prior to the conflict to allow time to arrange a make up. Cancellations prior to 7 days of game time will be considered a forfeit. **

2023-2024 Montana Surf Winter Futsal:

2005-2015 Birth Year Format

4v4 (3 field players and a goalie)

50 minute games (two 25-minute halves)

3 minute half times

There will be no timeouts

NO SLIDE TACKLES

The regular season will start the week of December 4th, 2023 and run through the week of February 19th, 2024. Teams will play once a week on Monday – Friday in a league style format with an end of season tournament starting the week of February 12th, 2024.

Games will be at MT Surf facility in Belgrade Montana.

Footwear for the MT Surf facility is indoor soccer shoes or cleats. Shin guards are required.

Team Formation:

Teams can be single gender or coed for High School League.

2010 and younger teams will be single gender.

Players need to form their own teams and submit the team members to MT Surf during the registration process or email list to mtsurfindoor@gmail.com.

League formation may be coed in some groups depending on the number of teams in each group. If a team has multiple birth years the team will play in the oldest player’s bracket. Each team is to have a minimum of 5 players on the roster and a maximum of 8. Please note: If teams have less than 4 players it will be an automatic forfeit for league standings. If the game is a forfeit you will play a non-league game. Games need to be played with the same number of players on the field. Example: team A has only 3 players, then team B needs to play 3 players on the field not 4 or 5 vs. team A.

Based on the number of teams in the futsal league there may be coed games throughout the season and tournament play.

Players (2010 or younger) who don’t have a team can also register individually and be placed on a team by Montana Surf.

Players born in 2009 or older can not register without a full team.

Montana Surf reserves the right to add players to teams to help facilitate full teams.

Montana Surf requires a parent coordinator to help facilitate the team for the 2012 and younger teams.

Teams will choose their own names. Teams are encouraged to make their own shirts.

Registration Deadline is November 15th, 2023.

Referees:

Montana Surf is always looking for referees for futsal. Anyone interested in refereeing please email mtsurfindoor@gmail.com. Referees will be paid $20.00 per game.
